I had a marketing professional tell me the other day that she doesn’t like to get marketing emails, and so she doesn’t wanna do it for her business. That is such a huge mistake.
We as marketers sometimes fall into this trap of saying we don’t want to use a particular tactic because we don’t like to be on the receiving end of it. We don’t want to do teleprospecting because we don’t like to receive phone calls, or we don’t want to send direct mail ’cause we don’t like junk mail.
Same thing with email. Huge, huge mistake.
The question is will it work? And with email marketing, it will work.
And even if you don’t like receiving email marketing campaigns, you have to focus on what will work for your business and not worry so much about how you would feel if you were on the receiving end of the campaign.
